The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, 2013
Mary Lynn Dobson

Directed by Kalika Duck
Described by some as a Pythonesque Spoof of the original tale: Sheriff challenges Robin to a Bowling Tornament, and Prince John tortures Robin with Justin Beiber. It is in the classic vein of the Pantomime and was perfomed with a 'double' cast of two Sheriffs, two Princes and three Robins , all of whom were different sizes, which made fittings a challenge!
Because of the young actors and target audience, as well as the childlike script the colour palette was kept simple and 'classic' - bad guys in black.
In order to extract the greatest possible humour from the characters/costumes, the actors chose non-traditional stereotypes for the Merry Men (and Women), thus in the groves of Sherwood, we find a Surfie, a Hippy and a Gumnut Baby, just to name a few, not to mention the Pagent Queen, the Secret Agent and the Evacuee who narrate the Tale.
