Directed by Shane McMullan
Wriiten for the Perth Fringe Festival by the Intothemask Theatre Company, who specialise in the traditional Italian theatre style Commedia dell'arte which uses stock characters within each piece. Traditionally all Commedia shows are improvised on the spot.
*Live Nude Girls* was semi-improvised with the opening rehersed and audience participation of scenarios encouraged by the Narrator.
Set at a funeral, in a funeral parlour, the set was designed naturalisticly though inspired by Rudolf Valentino's funeral from the 1977 film Valentino.
The costumes were inspired by mourning wear, but broken and fractured to create visual comedy as well as disharmony. To this was added small traditional elements, such as The Maid/Columbine's patchwork skirt and The Musician/Harlequin's diamond-paned socks. All costumes were made/remade from thrifted elements, not all commonly used as costume pieces, such as cushion covers and baskets.
