Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean
Ed Graczyk, 2016

Colour scheme
Edith Holman Hunt's Drawing Room by William Holman Hunt
1925-8

Directed by Rebecca Mason
Designed for the Lace Market Theatre in Nottingham.
The concept work was done with a different director who later disolved thier relationship with the company, leading to a new design being followed.
Set in Texas simultaniously in 1975 and twenty years earlier in 1955, the play, based on the film of the same name, charts the lives of 'The Disciples of James Dean' and their lives since his death.
The Five-and-Dime store was inspired by buildings of this type from the 1920's; the James Dean film Giant [referenced in the text]; and given a colour scheme of rust and verdigris, to suggest decay as well as being fashionable colours of the time.
The original design was to be photo-realistic: the redesign was created as a mirror image to ease audiences into the concept of two time periods running simultaniously.
Run: May 23rd-28th 2016
