The death of a child or teenager is never easy, and the murder even less. Written just weeks after the brutal beating and abandonment of  Matthew Shepard on a fence in 1998 the play focuses on the reactions of the town, the people, the criminals and the country as it comes to terms with the culture that underlay the murder.

 

With a story so powerful, the set was designed to be stark and minimalist, a cracked plain beneath the sky, a place where silence could be heard and there could be moments of unnatural beauty.
