Anatomy of Design: Manon 2017
Manon Act 3

Manon has achieved her desires and has over topped the three Actresses in their fashion and style. She is the best dressed, most beautiful woman in France, her clothes and jewelry paid for her.

A classic Art Deco dress with lots of movement, Manon's Act 3 wardrobe is based on photographs of the divine Marion Morehouse, a Vogue model known for her extraordinary smile.
The tightly wound cocoon coat is made from velvet to give an ethereal shimmer as she moves through the church of Saint Sulpice amongst the candles.
The last element of the costume, the veil, was essential (as all women must cover their heads within a church), but gave Manon an air of mystery as well as subtly referencing a wedding veil.

Manon's glow has deepened to imperial yellow and gold in her coat as she completes her final seduction of De Grieux. Lining and edging her dress and coat is scarlet satin and lace, providing contrast to the glorious yellow, but showing hints of danger and temptation, along with humanity's most carnal desires
