Anatomy of Design: Manon 2017
Manon Act 2
In Act 2, Manon is De Grieux's Girlfriend/Fiance, and despite their impoverished circumstances, we are beginning to discover Manon's expensive tastes. To show this luxury-loving, I used Orientalism, a popular design influence in the 1920's, and Hollywood boudoir shoots. Pyjama style lounge wear was one of the few times a woman could be seen wearing trousers, this adds a layer of relaxation and risque. She wears a Chinese silk 'kimono' to compliment De Grieux's long dressing gown.

Manon's glow has lightened to butter cream and she wears a turban, to enhance her Orientalism, as well as a very fashionable item of clothing
